This year the birthday theme was black and gold (for a golden retriever). The guys had their top hats on and were ready to demolish their bowl of rawhides. There was also a doggy cake they couldn't take their eyes off of. Naturally the cake had a bunch of rabbits on it to go along with Ernie's furry gift this year. The dogs know that if they want the treats they need to smile for the camera. Once they see the balloons and streamers going up they know that a tasty reward is not far behind.

Of course the guys needed to go for some cool looks and put on their party glasses. They really do enjoy a good costume. Plus, humans love a cute pet picture, right?

Between Basil and Ernie, it is Ernie who is always the first one with his paws up on the platform ready for his picture. Once Basil sees him do it then he gets right beside him for some snapshots.

It is kind of hard to tell in these pictures but the guys are actually standing on their hind legs with their front paws resting on a table. Don't worry, they don't make a habit of this in the kitchen or living room. They know that it is only allowed during certain times in this one specific room. They are quite well behaved otherwise.
